walk Into Our Distinctive Tastes

A JOURNEY INTO THE FLAVOUR'S ORIGIN

Come and see Alentejo, land of vast plains, here and there cut out by mountains and valleys, rich in microclimates, where a never-ending inheritance of traditional products is born and grows.

These are the products that we want you to be in touch with. Products resulting of a long-lasting know-how and raw materials. Made from hands always improving what they do, with picking up gestures, transforming and creating, giving flavours the taste of yesterday and certainties of future.

These are products that preserve natural environmental conditions, respect ecosystems and biodiversity. Breeds and varieties, autochthones or very well adapted, they are our allies, and marks of our production. Raw milk, thistle, kitchen-garden herbs, aromatic herbs, Alentejano breed pig and people’s hand are a small example of our offer.

Alentejo Traditional Quality Products are, with no question, one of the great regions’ potential, and represent, undoubtedly, a large richness for our territory. Its promotion constitutes a fact of social and economic dynamics, because it promotes work ranks and also the region global promotion through quality products.

Traditional products with protected origin enclose a large amount of Portuguese products, to which are associated the following labels: Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), and Traditional Specialty Guaranteed (TSG).

Rout of Flavours presents as main goal to implement a rout for quality products valued by protected origin, and to create an alternative promotion of these products with innovative character, concerning the promotion we usually use in Portugal.

This new way of promotion and dynamics of traditional products with protected origin consists in gathering a group of synergies involving local actors (producers, producers’ associations, local municipalities, tourism offices, etc). This initiative aims the promotion of a touristic circuit taking the visitor to the place where he can achieve all the information about a certain product, namely the places where he can buy it, also with the chance to visit, according to organized groups, certain production units, so that he can feel involved in what a traditional product really is, as well as the know-how concerning the same product.
